We have processed a few roosters lately, the last batch measuring at 1.9kg, 1.9kg, 1.6kg and 2.0kg. We have had some amazing meals, chicken and noodle soup, chicken and mushroom risotto, hot pot where you cook your own bits in broth or fry them on the edge - (the kids like the interactive eating!) Honestly, broth made with real chicken ... it feels like home. Cheeky female satin bower bird - favourite things to do include nicking dogs biscuits, helping herself to items in the veggie garden, making interesting noises and being very clever but always watching from a safe distance. My favourite chickens.... quambies! A bred developed in Tasmania, Australia, not yet formally recognised, bred as a dual purpose for meat and egg production but as a backyard, heritage style chicken. I didn't realise how large the chickens are until I bought a bbq chicken from the shops the other day. Please write a comment if you are interested in learning more about them! Planted some new kiwi fruit this season after the frost, heat, drought combo killed the last lot.

Teaching my kids about exponential growth..... I told her she can have $50 if she can complete the task. All she has to do is put one grain of rice on the first square, then double it on each of the 64 squares. It starts by seeming trivial, but by the final squares the total has exploded to over **18 quintillion grains** (more than the number of grains of rice on earth). At first she thought I was testing her grit/perseverance. She wasn't super pleased that "I had tricked her and wasted her time" but I really hope the concept sticks with her.
