Mesh network devices seem like a good option for censorship resistant communication that is also privacy preserving.

I want to lock down my internet use at home. A vpn is great, but I want devices to automatically connect to a secure network with VPN always on.
Thinking about buying a dd-wrt compatible WiFi router, and setting up my vpn directly on that instead of using software on each device to connect.
What am I missing? Is this a good approach?
My next steps will likely be getting a used pixel and installing Calaxy or another privacy os on it, and experimenting with using that privacy phone as my daily driver.
I really like the Linux phones like the pine phone or Purism Librem 5, but those just don’t seem quite ready to be a daily driver.

More great info about decentralized communication over LoRa. This allows users to communicate text messages, or transaction, via a mesh network.

Ok, this is cool.
Using reticulum, a decentralized mesh network that uses LoRa radios, Juraj is sending and receiving Cashu transactions.
When SHTF happens, or mass censorship and surveillance gets enacted, this is how bitcoiners stay self sovereign.
