Deciding to stop digging rather than wait for rock bottom. It’s the same down there as right here, only it’s farther to climb back up.

When life gives you opportunities and you miss them, it’s your fault for not being prepared to take them.

I’ve started to work in “What’s your five year plan?” into casual conversation when meeting new people. Quality of answer is a good barometer on worthiness of my time.

A dirty bum asked me to buy him a pint of ice cream or send some money to his cashapp. Told him I could send him some #Bitcoin or buy him a nutritious meal and he backpedaled.

Our world is not inherently easy; it is illusion that we have made it so. Convenience, championed as the highest Good in the West, makes friction-less interaction with your world the norm. You don’t think about your food because the only work you did for it was roll down your window and reach for your credit card. You don’t see your neighbors, because it’s easier to just pull your chair with wheels into the garage and go sit on the couch. Friction creates discomfort which leads to more effortless seeking behavior, both on the individual and collective level. You don’t have the hard conversations, learn to challenge respectfully, relish discomfort, make compromise and engage in community building. We have lost hope in the character forging behavior. We have given up on staring hard in the face and learning to react. We are soft, lying, degenerate, morally bereft pigs lying in filth ordering DoorDash and soiling our minds with the illusions of propaganda. Do the hard thing. Support your local bookstore.
