Aside from getting desktop Gimp/Darktable running via the integrated terminal or via Termux, there's really never been a good in depth photo editor on Android. Looking forward to see how this develops. Artcraft was cool as a benchmark of what AI can do, and for being compatible with Adobe files, but at least up until now it hasn't been doing too much that the existing open source projects weren't capable of. Bringing some serious software to Android is something the existing projects don't appear to think is worth their time (understandable, given their volunteering it), but it's a seriously underserved niche. Outside of photoshop for mobile, the second best is probably Snapseed (free, by Google), but it's nowhere near as capable as the desktop editors (free or paid). Right now, my phone is docked to a screen with a mouse and keyboard. It's no less capable of editing than many computers in terms of input or processing power. To get an editor that acknowledges that would be greatly appreciated, and I think the vibe coded alternative to the Adobe suite is about to provide a lot of value that doesn't exist elsewhere. #artcraft #foss #ai

Story Outline Tool

A local, browser-only tool for outlining a story

It's very niche, a tool to organize chapters for writers. It uses Nostr for background sync since relays are a really streamlined way to transfer a few MBs JSON data, but is otherwise not Nostr related. I've got ~120 something chapters already in the second installment of untitled novel, and with a lot of intersecting plotlines it was a lot harder to organize than the first one. Most of the regular tools are proprietary and expensive, and built around being a writing hub rather than just a chapter organizer. Before I vibe coded the tool, I nearly just grabbed a bunch of post it notes and physically organized it on the floor becase I needed a dynamic space to organize them. Its both ironic and impressive that that it was cheaper and faster to vibe my own tool from scratch than it would be to use physical paper or a purpose built proprietary tool that I'd need to import content into (much of which is scans or physically written in a stack of notebooks I'll be using AI to word for word transcribe in the revision stage). #writestr #nostrwriter #ai

Sounds like Wendell Berry passed away a couple weeks ago. Picked up "The world ending fire" (a collection of essays) by him a few weeks ago from the library. Only read a few essays in it so far, but probably worth a read if that kind of book interests you. "Why I won't buy a computer" was especially interesting, even if I might not have made the same assessment of modern tech. #bookstr
