Marsur Rock - Pakistan's Trolltunga This is a very special place in the northeast of Pakistan. Just a few minutes from Skardu you’ll find one of the most spectacular spots in all of Baltistan: Marsur Rock. A narrow cliff ledge that hangs over the valley like a balcony – with views of the Indus River, the Sarfaranga Desert and the surrounding mountains. The trail is insanely steep: 1,000 meters (3300 ft) of elevation over just 3 km (9800 ft) – but the effort is absolutely worth it. At the top you reach the iconic rock ledge that’s rightly known as Pakistan’s Trolltunga. Perfect for photos, but definitely pretty exposed. The islands around Semporna in Borneo Malaysis are really beautiful, what is kind of surprising, because Semporna itself is one of the ugliest and dirtiest cities we‘ve ever seen. Over the Shandur Pass, at the roof of the world The Shandur Pass in Pakistan connects Chitral with Gilgit-Baltistan and is home to the legendary Shandur Polo Festival, held on the highest polo ground on earth at around 3,700 meters. Here, freestyle polo is played — raw, fast, and with very few rules 😃 Unfortunately, we weren’t here in July when the festival takes place, but at a time when the pass was almost completely deserted. We rode for hours without meeting anyone, except the soldiers at the military checkpoint. Just after the pass lies the famous Shandur Lake. It is often so windless that the surrounding mountains are perfectly reflected in the water — like a natural mirror, completely surreal.
