Dr. Paul Brandenburg, a German physician and publicist, was arrested on October 28, 2026 at Berlin's airport (BER) by Federal Police while dropping off his 10-year-old child.
The charges: Six counts related to statements about Berlin's Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) — four counts of simple insult (§ 185 StGB) where Wegner filed criminal complaints, and two counts of slander against a political figure (§ 188(2) StGB, sometimes called Majestätsbeleidigung).
Brandenburg repeatedly attacked Wegner over the "Gemeinsambunt" charity gala held on July 14, 2025 at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, which was co-organized by Polizei Berlin (under Wegner's authority), the Polizeipräsidium Brandenburg, the Bezirksamt Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, and the LSVD+, under the patronage of the Berlin Police President.
The event was moderated by "Jurassica Parka" (real name Mario Olszinski), a drag queen who had already been convicted in 2023 of acquiring, possessing, and distributing child pornography (fined €11,200). He was later convicted again in September 2026 for possessing child and youth pornography (10-month suspended sentence). The police had conducted a search of his premises just days before the gala (July 24, 2025, per some reports the search preceded the event by about 10 days).
