Spoilers ahead.
It is undescribable how terrible this show is to watch. It's boring. The plot revolves around high school drama, and not even real drama. Its milder than you probably went through yourself.
All the characters start with serious flaws.
Taiga is an asshole that learned to never show vulnerability and resorts to violence instead very easily.
Kitamura is too self sabotaging and will sacrifice himself for others in stupid ass ways they never asked for.
Ami is a 2 faced bitch who will present a pleasant humble front while being an asshole when she know she'll get away with it.
Kushieda is super overbearing and maintains a fake positivity front absolutely permanently because she's afraid of confronting her own emotions.
Ryuuji is just dad mode trying to take care of everyone and taking on every burden alone. He's too nice and helpful to the cunt bitches around him.
None of these change at all throughout the whole anime. Taiga and ami stay insufferable cunts. Kitamura and kusheida both give up on the relationships they actually wanted deep down because they like self sabotaging for other's happiness. And ryuuji stays the same way, which wouldn't be a flaw if he actually got with kusheida, but instead he's with taiga who still can't say a thank you if her life depended on it.
The whole plot is bullshit. The whole switch up from pursuing kusheida/kitamura to being with each other is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It doesn't make sense personality wise, it's completely obvious from the beginning and somehow it's still completely absurd when it happens. The story is not written in a way to justify or even explain the switch. Its much worse than Daenerys in GoT. Even while expecting and looking for it, there is not a single hint that ryuuji is into taiga at any point. The whole plot is written like a shitty romance story where a woman cheats on her man with someone else and this is spun as true love.
Literally it comes down to either Kusheida or Taiga giving up their desire for their friends happiness. The only reason you could possibly think Taiga was in the right is if your a woman who watches from her perspective. They both have an equal claim to Ryuuji except Ryuuji has only ever wanted Kusheida, Taiga spent all year completely infatuated with someone else, and Kusheida actually likes Ryuuji while Taiga only ever took advantage of his neighborliness. Then when Taiga half passed out vocalizes her feelings, Ryuuji goes with her because it's the only time he's felt loved by someone other than his bimbo crackhead mom. This ending is literally a tragedy overlayed with happy music. He's just signed up for a bitch who will take advantage of his kindness for a long time.
Oh yeah also the bimbo crackhead mom is a shitty ass character. The whole show we see her nodding off the percs while leaving her own son to take care of her like a child. She's the definition of a terrible mother. Then because she goes and gets a job for a single day were supposed to think she's a good mom? She lasts a single day before it's too much for her and like everywhere else, her son has to do it in her place. She's complete dead weight and belongs to the streets.

I review shit I watch. I will review without spoilers on main notes, and will continue the review with spoilers as a reply to the note
Honestly, women aren't beating the can't write allegations with this one. It's just cringe. The main character is a boss bitch who is the most OP in the world and has a lore reason to not want a man. Sure I can get past that, but for some reason the plot still depends on suspense around battles that she's in. In every other action anime, you have the protagonist fighting stronger enemies all the time. In here, they are always weaker.
It really is content made for women. It's suspense that will only trigger the anxiety of women, the interpersonal drama that is treated as a main plot point is insignificant shit that only a women would make drama about. There's 2 fucking episodes out of 12 episodes that are primarily about picking out a birthday gift.
A recurring theme is that everyone wants headpats and affirmations from a mother figure. You got Heiter on his deathbed fantasizing about the goddess patting his head and telling him he did well in heaven. The author must really think men secretly want this shit but feel they need to act tough around others. No, it's just cringe.
Oh yeah, people in this world believe in a goddess.
The 2 other main characters is a girl that "had it tough" but is perfect, and OP, and does nothing for the guy, while the guy is literally written as what delusional women think they want in a partner but would never respect if they knew IRL. He's strong but insecure about it, kind towards everyone. Always simping for the girl before even realizing he's into her. He's a emotional goofy punching bag for the girl to dump her baggage on without ever expecting reciprocation.
Frieren keeps saying objectively retarded shit with some feel good emotional justification, and this is presented as profound wisdom to the audience.
Also, the last 5 episodes just randomly turn into the exam arc from HXH for some reason. It's really a minor plot point, absolutely undeserving of over a third of the season, but you just get a weird switch to a competitive exam arc. It is almost unrelated to the story, and it feels almost goofy how stupid it is. It really felt like the author woke up that day craving the HxH exam arc so that's what she wrote into this story. Its just weird and so out of place in this story.

Yeah this shit just shitty to watch. On top of the super esoteric plot, the romance story is just shit. The main girl is an absolute cunt bitch. He doesn't even like her until his Stockholm syndrome sets in. She's just an extremely unattractive personality. The second bitch is just classic good girl who has massive tits (much more massive in Kisemonogatari for some reason), and for no reason just falls in love with him.
The main character is fucking terrible. Hes an absolute pushover, every plot point is due to him throwing himself in harm for a bitch he doesn't even know. On top of that for some reason he just randomly molests the kid that his schizophrenic ADHD hallucinates to distract him. There's zero reason for this. It's just in there for the hell of it.
The fans like to say Bunny Girl Senpai copied this show, but they also just did it better. The plot and subplot is actually understandable. The kids don't all get naked and edge the MC for no reason. The girl ain't still a total cunt after they start dating. Unless you're both japanese and a pervert, you're better off watching BGS.
Rest of review with spoilers:
The plot and premise is great. It is a massive plot twist when you see that the outer simulation is also a simulation, but it's the best kind where you know you could've seen it coming if you paid more attention.
The whole thing suffers from shallow characters and I believe it would all be better off as a 12 episode series. 1.5 hours isn't enough for this.
The movie really starts off convincing you it's a matrix knockoff, down to intentional references to that movie, which makes you not expect the plot twist. but the really great part is how it references inception in the last scene before the reveal that the outer world is also a simulation. It is a foreshadow that you have the wrong movie in reference. I was confused when it happened, like "why are you referencing inception all of a sudden", but its genuinely a genius way to foreshadow the plot twist.
Since I was initially confused by the ending, I'm just gonna explain my understanding of the plot.
From what I could tell, the main problem is that the real Naomi entered the first simulation, but failed to bring his memories with him and ended up getting fully absorbed in the simulation, thinking it was real. Essentially, he realized, he is no more real than the young Naomi, and he was willing to sacrifice himself so the younger simulation could live on with the girl from his layer, instead of trying to force a love with a different version of Ruri. Unknowingly, him dying was what he needed to do to actually leave the simulation and wake up in the real world. Ruri would always wake up from the coma on her own, but Naomi goes and plugs in to save her through simulation magic bullshit (that doesn't work) and gets trapped in the process. Ruri then accesses the simulation through a crow avatar with mod privileges and is able to affect the simulation without hooking up herself and get Naomi to die so he wakes up irl. The older Naomi is the real consciousness but without his real memories and living in the simulation. The younger one is a digital consciousness and he gets a happy ending by living on in a whole new simulation, because the real world scientists do want to actually recover and fix their Orwellian world model to accurately reflect the past once again.
Tsukigakirei review:
This retarded ass anime gets a score of 1/10.
Honestly don't watch this shit. It is just 12 episodes of lil ass children doing cringe shit. And it's not like Tokyo Revengers teens that are acting like and depicted as grown ass goons. They are literally 14, but look and act like 10. It's fucking creepy to watch in a way that I haven't felt from other same age anime's. The girl literally spends the whole show playing with her plush toy and hugging a stuffed animal at night.
There is not a single interesting plot point in the whole show. Not a single real obstacle or challenge. There is a tiny shadow of the bad timing misunderstanding trope, but it goes nowhere. The whole thing is them getting stupidly anxious over nothing, the thing they worried about happening, and just as you'd expect, nothing happens. I've genuinely fallen asleep during watching this multiple times in only 12 episodes.
Its all just terribly cringe as you watch a lil ass kid pop his first boner and act nervous.
Genuinely there is nothing to watch but pedophilic wholesome slop. Writer should kill himself for writing this and the studio should be nuked for adapting this.
