I am gonna write a quick rant into the void because I don't use social media. Even though no one reads this I can reflect on how it ages in a few years. Here goes:
AI luddites are so fucking stupid, complaining about data centers and crucifying anyone for using LLMs. Data centers have existed since before the internet, humans always scale up technology with a massive consumption of resources, and the whole point is to better source and architect those systems to be sustainable. Using energy is good, consuming resources is good, it means humanity is advancing. No idgaf if it's to generate pictures of cats playing poker. If someone wants to pay for it, go for it. I am sick of the virtue signalling bullshit.
I grew up pretty progressive left. I identify a lot with wanting inclusivity and support for people who are actually marginalized. I believe that systemic disadvantages are very real. But the blue-haired-septum-pierced champagne socialists whining about being poor while doing absolutely nothing, while benefiting from the very systems they condemn, are so moronic it is pushing people away from real issues and alienating people who should be on your side to support shared human equality. It is so fucking stupid.
