The wife and I closed on our first house today. I drove away from the property tonight thinking “damn, I own this” (yes, I know technically I pay property taxes forever so it’s not true ownership). But it’s a feeling I’ve never had before and honestly pretty surreal. It gives a sense of pride and desire to improve the property for our future family. It will become a place where memories are made. Shout out to Satoshi Nakamoto for creating the hardest money in human history, without which I wouldn’t be embarking on this journey.

The topic du jour of the 24 hour outrage cycle is that the majority of boomers in some poll responded that they would favor higher taxes on younger workers (GenZ/Millenials/GenX) to fund the shortfall in Social Security. The signal here (in my opinion) is a reiteration of what anyone with common sense already knows. There is no political or public will for cutting government spending and promised benefits. The debts will be paid in devalued currency. Plan accordingly. Now back to posting about flowers and plants 😅

Listened to Joel Salatin on a YouTube show, and he mentions that 50% of corn grown in the US is for ethanol production, 50% of soybeans are exported, and 50% of alfalfa feeds Japanese and Saudi racehorses. Interesting to think about while going to the grocery store and getting sticker shock. Our government subsidizes a subpar, shitty alternative fuel rather than healthy foods we can eat.
