As society starts to adopt a bitcoin standard, governments will start to realize that they cannot amass more government control through money printing because the money they are printing is worthless. We will see government shrinkage. Hopefully, governments will start to prioritize doing what it's supposed to do—protecting our liberties.

The bankers will ensure we stay in debt. The pharmaceutical companies will ensure we stay sick. The weapons manufacturers will ensure we keep going to war. The media will ensure we are prevented from knowing the truth. The Government will ensure all of this is done legally.

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency…the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered.” —Thomas Jefferson

Bitcoin adoption is a process. It first needs to become a good store of value in order for it to transition into becoming a medium of exchange. It’s already the best way to do peer to peer payments, it just takes time for mass adoption to kick in so everyone can use it as a medium of exchange. Just look at every other currency throughout human history. Things that were a good store of value became mediums of exchange over time. Seashells, beads, silver, gold all worked as a store of value before it became widely adopted as medium of exchange. We are seeing unprecedented growth in the store of value arena. We just need to be patient for the medium exchange part to take place. We are already seeing the groundwork being laid to make bitcoin better at the medium of exchange part with things like lightning, liquid, and cashu. The market will inevitably choose a scarce asset over an easy asset. All it takes is time.

I don’t know why but cashu hasn’t clicked with me yet. The need for a centralized mint just doesn’t sit right with me.

The most important issue with Bitcoin that we need to solve is mass adoption. Once this is solved, everything else gets easier. Lightning is doing an admirable job of this but we need more.

Decentralization is a way to put power in the hands of the people. Bitcoin gives financial power to the people, nostr gives vocal power to the people. We need more decentralized innovations.

I had a conversation with a Keynesian friend. When I explained that Bitcoin will cause deflation he was instantly worried that it will cause a “deflationary spiral” and destroy the economy. He had a debtor-mindset. He believes it is good for people to be motivated to go into debt to purchase houses and cars, because it stimulates the economy. He said that hard money will cause deflation which will cause people to hoard money and slow down the economy. He didn’t seem to grasp that people will still buy what they want, but be incentivized to be wiser with their spending if they had hard money that might appreciate in the future. Our difference in opinion came down to what we believed a good economy was. He believed that any and all economic activity that increases GDP is good. I believe that such aggregates don’t capture the health of the economy, rather, the accumulation of capital by individuals and steady deflation is a sign of a good economy. What are your thoughts?
