Born and raised Alberta, with a wanderlust. I enjoy traveling to South America and am motivated by their culture. Languages are fascinating to me and am welcome to conversations in Spanish to help improve; my German is survivable, haha. I'm the guy in my circle of friends that won't shut up about Bitcoin and am on a never ending quest to orange pill them.

Well, our collapse is happening live time. What a time to be alive. The Canadian dollar, breaking up like the Titanic. Snapped in half, a hush upon the passengers as the keel of the ship rises towards the stars...before plunging to the depths. The government is in disarray looking for ways to make this appear normal...the band is playing on. People around me are suffering, complaining, yet distracting themselves enough to not accept how truly serious the situation truly is. No one listens and all I can do is keep moving funds into BTC while I still can, as the banks have been silently working to prevent the inevitable bank runs.

I tried to set up an anonymous email the other day, to see how far I could get with it. Try to sign up for just about any email requires a phone number for text verification, and when you find one that can be created without text verification, they need a secondary email address to proceed. Go to buy an off the shelf SIM card so you can get a text confirmation and what does the registration force? An email address. Even Proton wants an email address to generate one of their free emails. I genuinely do not think it would be this much of a challenge...wow!

Wow, all these governments are coordinating some really shady "commandments" at the same time and hitting it hard. I think we are the stage where "the frog" has now been boiled.

Canada...I'm watching this country crash live time. I now only keep the minimum amount of fiat in my bank accounts and am just piling into Bitcoin as best I can. It may not be too much longer before the banks start restricting more cash going to exchanges. This just happened to a relative of mine banking with TD...went to check on his account on payday and had to speak with the bank's fraud department to get permission to access his money again. The reason? Sending frequent funds to an exchange.

Me encantan las criptomonedas. Me permiten enviar dinero a cualquier persona en el mundo rápido y fácil. También me ayudan a obtener préstamos y comerciar con otros países. Y me dan más libertad y privacidad con mi dinero y mis datos.

It was during my earliest visits to Colombia where I'd met a fair share of Venezuelans using Bitcoin. I found it a peculiar experience. Yet it was the most important educational experience in my life. Take nothing for granted when others can control and manipulate our destinies. Would I have ever imagined in my life where I would desperately try to preserve what savings I have in "magic internet money"? Neither did they. And here we are...

Consider a scenario where we are impelled to use CBDC. Where would that leave those with self-custody and decentralized money? I see a dual marketplace, much like countries with a hyper inflated currency. Venezuela, Argentina, etc. How does a government truly control labour or goods produced by such labour? We saw this reality here in Canada, and despite which side of the fence one stood, we saw a government trying to control a portion of the population by denying them access to their hard earned gains. Those paid with crypto but had them on an exchange, had even that seized. However there was a concession that those who self custodied were beyond all reach and seizure. Even as their accounts were locked, and were meant to suffer, there was always the ability to exchange that crypto from others with cash, food and fuel. Untouchables.
