I have been thinking about this for a while. Every well-meaning Bitcoin explainer I read still frames Bitcoin as an investment. Volatility. Portfolio. Allocation. The correction to bad Bitcoin advice is always better Bitcoin investment advice. That is the problem. Bitcoin was never supposed to be an investment. It was supposed to be money. Fiat is a ruler that will not sit still. The entire investment industry exists because of that one design choice. If the ruler sat still, none of it would need to exist. Bitcoin is a ruler that sits still. The mainstream media frames Bitcoin as a hot asset. Wall Street is building products to keep Bitcoin inside the fiat frame. Even people who understand Bitcoin's technology often still talk about it using the vocabulary that made fiat what it is. The essay is now on the BFTA Substack.
