What is money? Explaining to students in the My First Bitcoin 10 weeks Certification Program what money is. We use many games and exercises to teach #Bitcoin. Here you see students trying to barter to the goods they need. They experience there is no coincidence of wants: you are a shoemaker with 1000 shoes and you want fish. And you are a fisherman with 1000 fish and you want bread. Then using silver coins and golden coins that everybody wants makes the trade easier. But wait. When you realize that your golden coins can get debased by clipping them and changing the gold for copper. It all happens through a fast sleigth of hands. Don’t trust anybody, verify. How does money arise? During lesson 3 of the history of money of the My First Bitcoin Certification, I let students sign a fake debt agreement for a loan of 10 dollars and I hand them 10 fake dollars out of nothing. Money = Debt = Money. I instantly create an extra money supply out of thin air. Here I’m negotiating the terms with one of the students. While everybody holds only 1 golden dollar, I create 20 golden dollars out of thin air. As I’m the Stone Fence Bank -(fake bank), I can create fake fiat dollars. Ready for lesson 2 of class 2 of Mi Primer Bitcoin. My first bitcoin. We are going to talk about what is money? You see different paper fiat money here and I have included Monopoly money in between. Do the students really know what is money? Have they thaught about this? Or have they been accepting paper for their whole lives whithout thinking about it? We already gave them 5 dollars each in SATS. They had to download their Blink wallet and Wallet of Satoshi last week and ask 5 dollars to a faucet sponsored by family Peter Kroll’s BTC Curaçao Institute.
