๐Ÿ“ข Open call: Open Technology Research is a global, multidisciplinary research symposium bringing academics and practitioners together to advance understanding of the role of open technologies in the modern world and produces policy-relevant research that helps decision-makers drive impact. This year's Open Technology Research (OTR) Symposium, themed โ€œShaping the Open Transitionโ€, moves from diagnosis to action: from mapping the landscape to charting the path forward. With keynotes anchored in what is already working, and sessions designed to translate research directly into policy recommendations and practice, the event is both a stocktaking exercise and a forward-looking call to build a more united, evidence-based global research agenda ON โ€“ one that strengthens open technology's role as a shared foundation for resilience and sovereignty, reinforces public interest governance, and mobilizes research and evidence to drive collective action. https://symposium.opentechresearch.org/

Who holds the reins in this digital machine, and how do we yank them back? ๐Ÿ‘‰ Ten minds from the trenches of tech, the halls of power, the markets, and law lay out the routes to reclaiming #autonomy, fortifying #democracy, and bending digital systems back toward the people they're supposed to serve. ๐Ÿ”— image

๐Ÿ“š๏ธ๏ธ Read this peer-reviewed article on municipal tokens as urban policy tools, using #LVGA & the #MyLugano app as a concrete case study. https://www. p2pfisy.com/research-papers/municipal-tokens-as-urban-policy-tools-the-case-of-lvga-and-the-mylugano-app @Jaromil contributed the final chapter, where he set out privacy-by-design principles for municipal digital identity. Municipal digital infrastructure can become a tool for autonomy, coordination, business & public value. Or it can become another surveillance layer. ๐Ÿ‘†The difference is in the privacy design choices we make early.

"The job was essentially like working on a second-hand market for high-end electronics, inside a discotheque, except everything was free (Full body workout included: phat TVs were heavy!). The business model was so absurd it would make a venture capitalist weep with confusion..." From the Electronic Wasteyard to the Roundtable of Power

Everything that once felt connected suddenly is. Interfaced by brittle constructions of channeled electricity, we project ourselves into the ether. And there, in the ocean of data, our identities blend. Locality becomes osmosis. And realms flow into each other through their veil. Welcome home, fellow dyne.

๐Ÿง˜ Zenroom.org is now Y2038-safe (yes, the #Epochalypse ). We moved to signed 64-bit time so we won't jump back to 1901 on 19 Jan 2038. ๐Ÿ”— PR: Remember Y2K? Nothing happened. No planes fell, no riots, but an entire generation quietly learned to ignore warnings. Anyways, Dyne always looks into the future, so we fixed this one too, before you have to care. Don't wait until the last minute of 2037. โœ… 64-bit time. โœ… Tests included.

MOS: The Modular OS That Minds Its Own Business Meet MOS, a Modular Operating System for #Servers and #Homelabs. It's what happens when you ask: what if our infrastructure respected us back? Based on #Devuan, built for resourcefulness rather than resource hunger, MOS is a quiet rebellion against the age of appliances that report home, phones that listen, and clouds you can't touch. What it does: A clean, modern web interface (Vue + Vuetify) gives you control over: - Monitoring, storage, and shares - Users and networking - Notifications and a web terminal - Docker, LXC, VMs, all modular, all extensible What it doesn't do: - No hidden services phoning headquarters - No telemetry harvesting your homelab's secrets - No forced cloud dependencies - No "you must create an account to use your own server" nonsense Features arrive as plugins. You decide what runs. The machine belongs to you. Open source, AGPLv3. REST APIs. WebSockets. The kind of stack that doesn't lock you in, but sets you free. ๐Ÿ”—
