The young man said he already did. Then Jesus said: "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have, give to the poor, and follow me." The young man went away sad, for he had many possessions. Wealth is not sinful in itself, but it becomes an obstacle when it occupies God's place in the heart. Jesus' invitation was to interior freedom—detachment from everything that prevents total surrender to God. What attachments occupy God's place in your heart? Wealth, comfort, security, prestige? Still she kneels: “Lord, help me.” When He speaks of children’s food and dogs, she does not walk away. “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table.” Jesus praises her: “O woman, great is your faith!” Her greatness is not in status or argument. It is humble, persistent trust that even a crumb of His mercy is enough. She keeps asking because she knows who He is. Where have you stopped praying because God seemed silent? Bring your need to Jesus again today. Ask with humility. Persist with trust. Its indissolubility is not a burden but a gift—a call to the kind of faithful, self-giving love that images God's own love. Whether married, single, or consecrated, reflect on the call to faithful love in your vocation. Every state of life is an invitation to mirror Christ's total gift of self. Jesus called a child, placed it in their midst, and said: "Unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest." Divine logic overturns worldly values. Greatness according to God is measured not by power, prestige, or wealth, but by humility, dependence, and simplicity of heart. A child has no pretensions of grandeur—it simply trusts. Examine whether you seek greatness according to the world or according to God. True greatness lies in making yourself small, in serving without pretense, and in trusting the Father as a child trusts a loving parent.
