Im slawischen Volksglauben gilt der Bär als Schutzgeist. Der Bär ist stark, wirkt aber auch gutherzig und ein wenig naiv. Der Bär symbolisiert in Russland Einfachheit, Stärke und Familiensinn. Die zweite Personifikation Russlands ist das Mütterchen, bekannt als ineinander geschachtelte Matrjoschka oder Babuschka-Puppen, die für den Wert der Familie stehen und Neugeborenen gerne als Maskottchen für ein langes, gesundes Leben geschenkt werden. So viel Liebe und Weisheit in der Tradition, so viel Kultur, die in Europa geschätzt wird. Und wie kommt es, dass immer wieder Hass gegen die Russen entsteht? Darüber hat sich unser Autor Otto Geissler Gedanken gemacht und die Heartland Theory unter die Lupe genommen.
