My wife's friend group is still hopeful. They look to me to be a source of optimism. I have no optimism left to give them. The reality is that the longer she shows no improvement, the less likely it is that she's suddenly going to turn a corner and start getting better. I've got to face this new reality and start planning for a very different kind of life going forward. Her close friends are in denial, but I can't afford denial any longer.
