LinkedIn caught secretly scanning users' browser extensions WITHOUT permission, linking that data to your real identity, employer, and job title. They're teaming up with Persona (ID verification) and Human Security to ship your facial geometry, ID docs, NFC chip info, and more to a third-party data exchange network (Global Network of Third-Party Data Sources)

Google has reversed its mandatory Android dev verification policy following backlash from 37 civil society groups! Instead of a total ban, they’re pivoting to an "opt-in" model. While a win for open-source pressure, the new process is designed with intentional "friction". image Installing unverified apps now requires an "obstacle course": Enable dev mode, confirm you're not coerced, REBOOT your phone, wait 24 HOURS, and re-authenticate. Google claims this thwarts scammers, but it's clearly a high barrier to discourage average users. Students get a 20-person verification-free limit. Yet, wide distribution still requires a $25 fee + ID. This is a strategic compromise: claiming "openness" while using "friction" to maintain ecosystem control. Source:

81 HEADPHONES FAILED. But Did the Methodology? Every product in Arnika's Sound of Contamination report was flagged red, even when skin-contact parts were perfectly safe. Here's why that matters. Published in February 2026 by Arnika and partners, the report tested 81 headphone models across Central Europe, finding hazardous substances in every sample. The report found hazardous chemicals in all 81 headphone models tested. A genuinely important finding. But its scoring flaw is hard to ignore: a product rated green on ear tips (the parts you actually wear) is still labelled red overall if its outer casing contains trace flame retardants. Detecting a substance is not the same as demonstrating harm.
