#proofofsteps #jerrysbench We are in our January thaw in the middle of December. That's the way it feels with the early onset of the polar vortex. The snow melted some and is a little greasy. The brook thawed a bit with water flowing under its cracks and open spaces. Running downhill attached to a husky in slippery snow is a skill I've developed over the years. I recommend it if you are looking for a thrill.

#coffeechain I like the snow. I grew up in it as a winter playground. I find the weatherman to be just a small step above a politician. They give just enough truth to fit their narrative. Since the polar vortex descended on New England in the last fortnight, we have been promised snow three times in Southern New England. Here we go again. Another Alberta Clipper is set to blow through in the next 24 hours and potentially form a mild costal storm. With a sense of urgency, I moved in a cord of wood last week. I have another cord to stack and cover. If I stack and cover the wood, we will get little to no snow. If I procrastinate, I'll get six inches covering my pile. I know the drill it's like buying #btc. If purchase bitcoin, the price goes down. If I wait, the price goes up. All this craziness is enough to drive a man insane. Relax...breathe...sit by the fire and express gratitude for the moment.

#eggstr #chickenstr #foodstr Now that my hens only produce 1-2 eggs a day, I am into the waterglass eggs. This preservation method is not supported by the USDA. One of my batches was bad, so I tossed it in the compost. If just one egg is broken, assume the whole lot is bad. For this reason, I only preserve one gallon at a time. It's better to toss a gallon of eggs than 5 gallon bucket. Waterglass taste is a step below fresh and step above powder. They are good for baking and scrambling. You can't boil, steam or cook sunny side up successfully. This lot is from April 2025.
