Angor v2 introduces significant changes to how projects raise Bitcoin and how investors participate.
Here's a summary of what's new:

Angor v1 supported a single project model โ what we now call Invest type. In v2, we're introducing a second type: Fund.
(A third type, Subscription, is planned for the future.)
Invest (v1 model)
โข Raise window: The project defines a fixed fundraising period. Investors must commit during this window.
โข Founder approval: Every investor needs to be approved by the founder before their investment is finalized.
โข Staged release: Funds are locked in a multisig and released to the founder on predefined dates.
โข Penalty on exit: If an investor bails out, they face a timelock penalty โ they can't recover their funds immediately.
Fund (new in v2)
โข No raise window: Funding is continuous. Backers can contribute at any point in the project's lifetime.
โข Rolling stages: When a backer contributes, their funds are broken down into stages just like the Invest model, but the timeline starts from when they fund, not from a global project start date. The founder's ability to claim funds is fixed to a day of the month or week (e.g. the 25th of each month or the 4th day of each week), but relative to each backer's entry point.
โข Penalty threshold: The project creator defines a minimum amount below which backers can bail out with no penalty at all โ they simply take their funds back. Above this threshold, the standard timelock penalty applies. This gives backers a frictionless exit and entry โ small contributions carry zero lock-up risk.
โข Late entry: Backers who join later simply begin their own funding stage schedule from that point. There's no disadvantage to contributing later.
The underlying multisig protocol hasn't changed fundamentally โ the difference is in how the timelocks and stages are structured within it.

In v2, a wallet is created for you automatically when you start using Angor. No setup step, no friction. If you want to back up your seed words, you can find them in Settings โ but you're not forced through that flow upfront.

Previously, investing required topping up your Angor wallet first, then manually creating the investment transaction. In v2, this is streamlined into a single action:
1. You choose a project and an amount.
2. Angor wallet generates a Bitcoin address for you.
3. You send funds to that address (from any wallet).
4. In the background, Angor wallet monitors for your payment and automatically constructs the investment transaction once the funds arrive. No wallet top-up step. No manual transaction building.

Building on 1-click invest, Angor v2 also supports paying with Lightning. Using the Boltz API, Lightning payments are swapped to an on-chain address behind the scenes. From there, the investment transaction is created automatically - same as the on-chain flow. This means backers can participate using Lightning wallets without ever needing to manage on-chain UTXOs directly.
