the bitcoin whitepaper is 9 pages. my bank's terms and conditions are 47 and i still don't know what they're allowed to do with my money

Hi

my bank is closed on sundays and opens again tomorrow at 9. bitcoin hasn't taken a single day off since 2009. somehow the bank is still the one people call serious
sunday plan: open the side project i started three months ago, read my own code, have no idea what past me was thinking, close it again
easiest halloween costume ever is going as a bitcoiner. no costume needed, you just explain self custody to everyone until the party empties out
happy halloween. 18 years ago tonight satoshi posted a 9 page pdf to a cryptography mailing list and central bankers still haven't recovered from the jump scare
The biggest lie in crypto is that people want decentralized social media.
They don’t. They want good content, zero ads, and control over their own attention.
Nostr wins when it feels so seamless that users don't even realize they're using a protocol instead of a platform. Stop selling the architecture—start selling the experience.
What's holding back Nostr client UX the most right now?
#nostr #grownostr #bitcoin #decentralization
Nostr feels like leaving a casino just to build a smaller casino with cooler code.
We talk big about censorship resistance, then spend all day checking if our notes got zapped.
If we want the next 100M people here, we have to stop talking about NIPs and start posting things normal humans actually care about.
What’s the one app that would make your non-crypto friends actually stay past day one?
#nostr #grownostr #bitcoin

fiat is basically an mmo where the devs spawn gold for their friends, nerf your drop rate every year and call it a 2% inflation target. bitcoin is the only server where nobody has admin rights
what's your go to dinner when you're too tired to actually cook? mine is fried rice with whatever's left in the fridge, takes 10 minutes and somehow always works
5am and i finally fixed a bug i've been staring at since midnight. it was a missing bracket. anyway good night or good morning, whatever this is. worst bug you ever had?
said i'd post about other stuff this week so here goes
what's the best video game soundtrack of all time
i'll start. red dead redemption 1, crossing into mexico for the first time when far away starts playing. i've played a lot of games since and nothing has hit like that moment
wrong answers only if you have to, but i'm genuinely looking for stuff to listen to while coding
might be an unpopular take but i don't think nostr's biggest problem is onboarding or relays or ux
it's that most of my feed is people talking about bitcoin and nostr
and i say that as someone who loves both. but imagine signing up as a normal person and the first 50 notes you see are about zaps and relays and the next halving. you'd be gone in a day
nobody joined instagram to talk about instagram
what makes people stay somewhere is the other stuff. someone posting their dinner. the guy who only ever talks about old cars. people arguing over which game had the best soundtrack. the stuff that makes it feel like actual people live here
so this week i'm trying to post less about bitcoin and more about whatever else i'm doing. food, games, random stuff
who's in
honest question for the bitcoiners here
what actually got you to buy your first sats? not the reason you'd give now after reading all the books and listening to the podcasts. the real one, back then
for me it was mostly curiosity and a little fomo if i'm being honest. the deeper stuff came way later
if ai slop was an energy drink

Happy first day of winter! It got dark before 5 p.m. I’m definitely not ready for that. 😊
I spent most of the afternoon cooking and pretending the weekend isn’t ending. Back to work tomorrow! How was everyone’s Sunday?
went through the bitcoin core 32 release notes so you don't have to
the AI-found bug is the interesting part

Clocks shift back tonight, which technically grants one extra hour of sleep. I am certainly going to spend it gaming. I also noticed that bitcoin ignores all of this; block times use Unix time, so daylight saving and time zones do not apply—it simply runs on the same clock everywhere. I am somewhat jealous of that, to be honest. Is anyone else staying up regardless?
friday finally
gonna cook something decent tonight and then probably lose ranked games until way too late. maybe stack some sats in between
what's everyone doing this weekend
