Being alone is not loneliness.
Loneliness is internal. A state of heart. You can feel it surrounded by people. You can be free of it in total solitude.
The difference changed everything.
I wrote this post in 2015 โ I've been married 16 years now. Deeply happy. Not because my wife cured my loneliness.
She couldn't. No one can.
I had to face it alone first. Accept myself. Find comfort in solitude.
Only then could I love freely.

A person comfortable with being alone doesn't fear their partner's absence. They don't place pressure on their presence. They allow it to simply be.
That's what makes true love possible. And it grows stronger with time.
