I tried those systems. They don't work. Half of the information on nostr doesn't even load on them. And then 6 months later those servers disappear and all users get rug pulled. Even the paid services have left users hanging.

I do get that, but then the user chooses a new relay when that becomes an issue, just like I will and everyone that's in this boat. I happen to have been using the same relays for maybe 3.5 years now... That's a users choice. It is quite literally a trade off between convenience and privacy/security. That just needs to be on the label. Nostr _works_ with or without outbox, that's not a requirement nor is it _the_ spec. Besides that, honestly the spam is the worst part. Relays go through great lengths to suppress slop, garbage, porn and other nasties for a single open relay to ruin the feed without my choice. Relays are doing work for clients if a user chooses. I don't use a smart phone, but even for web clients the only way I can suppress the garbage is to create firewall, dns, or ublock filters, which is fucking asinine imo. We have relay lists, some of use keep them up to date. Obviously I have no stake in amethyst or how you choose to do it, but I don't think it's right to tell users "Thats h how nostr works" when your omitting the truth.
It's fine to try something new, but nostr truly works with outbox. Every user that is active today has an outbox relay and his/her client is only posting there, replies to that user only go to the inbox relay list of that user. Literally every active account that is not a bot or a disposable npub has them. And everything reacts to that record.
