Did you already hear of the theory about the centralisation of superstars?
So that in a analog-only world, many artists, athletes or whatever discipline get the chance to offer their talent to locally interested people. So the attraction is locally bound. When someone gives a concert, only people willing to travel to that place get the chance to experience it.
With on demand media, every subscriber gets the opportunity to choose whatever artist or sports team. And price does not change depending on the decision. So many people around the world focus on a far smaller amount of superstars. And many very good performers gain nothing in this system, since they are still below the superstars, that catch all the attention.

Has anyone an idea, how this disbalance can heal? Or will it maby just not? Will artists have to be superstars or work parttime in the future?
