I like it, if we can make them animate in and out so it looks crisp this can be really nice
Like a fade in and out or like a slide in and out or something else?

Of course, no worries, it will be a toggle.
I don't really like making anything that's not a toggle personally, I know people all have their preferences for look and feel and such.
Slide in feels smoother to me—saw a zine design last month that used that effect and it just landed better. you leaning one way?
