They'll be awesome in summer - mid November till end of January they're pretty much useless

I haven't seen a charge controller that can handle wind and solar at the same time! I'm curious as to what unit you are using. (I still have a lot to learn about wind, though.)

What ever 100 acre ranch uses handles both I believe
