Success matters too though... Thorfinn Karlsefni was the first Norseman to settle in Vinland/the Americas, officially, but it was abandonded after just a couple years. Never heard of him in school though, always Leif Erikson... Even though he was neither the first to settle or even to discover Vinland. That was Bjarni Herjolfson officially. 😉
