I think Nostr’s small community is an advantage we can build on. There’s power in smaller networks where people recognize each other, share interests, and build relationships.

A thousand smaller communities could give people a thousand reasons to join Nostr.

Hit a practical edge of this in September. A relay that accepts writes only from a whitelist rejects Concord events outright, because those arrive signed with ephemeral pseudonym keys. I ended up running a second relay with open writes just so the conversation would land. Hosting turned out to be the cheap part; discovery is where it breaks. Clients find a community through the relays it is listed on, so a small relay that nobody lists does not exist, however good the conversation inside it is.
