There’s a lot more history in Libya during Ghadaffi’s regime that you’re missing that predates 2000 which would change the context and perspectives of some of your points. Many in Libya have long memories. (Note: I was born there and grew up there).

Please elaborate. Genuine interest here.
I make no claim as to the good/bad nature of Ghaddafi here. Only the actions that were taken and how they would be interpreted by any sensible govt in the same situation today. Clearly there is more to the story as this was about as simplified a summary as I could do.
Any info you think is relevant that you want to add would be great though.
