I asked about meshcore in my city’s mesh discord server. A lot of them were saying there are nice aspects but it has parts that are closed source :/ is that true?

It is the firmware itself is open source, but the default application for the iPhone and your Android is closed source. There is an app for Android called meshcore-open that fixes this issue though.
