there's a limit on how much channel maintenance the L1 can handle right now. please stop pretending not to understand this. I want to believe you're not stupid

Sure, has anyone ever been unable to carry out this maintenance though? How many times have people that wanted to open/close/reshuffle channels bumped into the Impossibility of doing so? All I'm saying is that we're talking about the potential scenario where everyone and their cousin is paying via lightning, when in fact most probably a large percentage of so called bitcoiners don't even run a lightning node.

Why, when not believing it clearly contradicts the facts?
