At Primal, we create follow recommendations for new users based on interests they specified during the sign-up process. We also started working on long form article curations. All this is publicly accessible via nostr lists for the official Primal account (link below). If you have suggestions regarding recommended accounts or articles, please let us know!

I think in general, clients shouldn't be assuming everyone joining wants bitcointwitter, nor should they be catering to bitcointwitter tastes. Just an imo. Just looking at this recommended user list is kind of off-putting about the general vibe. (Although not perhaps inaccurate about the state of content here). But perhaps exacerbates the problem(?) I think opt in / follow all would be better, rather than 'unfollow all'. Some absolute stinker accounts here too lol.
Just far far too many. You will vbeasily accidentally follow all on this, trying to speed up the process and then have to go to unfollow. Slightly annoying. I'd definitely keep and make nostr devs more prominent tho. Just saying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When I got someone to join last night, she wanted to follow certain accounts and clicked on interests. I walked her through it so it was nice to see someone sign up. I think it’s a good feature during sign up. And if you don’t like the account, you can unfollow later. Without it, I think it would be harder to find content as an initial user. If you’re looking to add recommended accounts to certain interests, you can add me. In general, my posts typically relate to #positivity #motivation #faith #spirituality #christianity #happiness #kindness.

"Curation" is what #censorship shall be called on nostr. My prediction is that the #government nostr management and control plan for the masses is to drive the herds into these "curated" platforms like primal - either by "approved app" decree in most authoritarian territories or usual "influencer" propaganda; then force these corporate platforms to implement the same censorship tactics as on twatter, such as shadow banning. We can already see influencers sporting primal accounts. Sure, anyone shall still be able to post whatever they want on nostr network through other apps - as they can by having their own website now - but on the most popular nostr platforms, the "dangerous and harmful" content according to the "authorities" shall be "curated" out, and only visible to the "extremists" through "unapproved" nostr apps and "unregulated" relays. Of course, that shall be done strictly "for your safety" and "organization". Naturally, such platform operators shall be handsomely rewarded through usual means for their "cooperation " in "protecting the public". I bet that's at least some part of the Primal business plan and exit strategy. Once dominant, the founders can sell it to the @elon of that era, and go on as billionaires to virtue signal through grants as @jack does against the herd manipulation platform they created with purest of intentions for #freedom and #liberty... Behold, "The Grand Wurlitzer" arriving on nostr as expected! 🤑💸🕵👮
So… users will be able to set custom feeds via NIP-51 lists in primal? @david

Custom feeds based on NIP-51 npub lists? @david is wrangling me in to help get brainstorm.ninja publishing (hopefully dynamic) “suggested users” lists based on shared interest and WoT score. This will be a CROSS CLIENT tool that EVERYBODY can make use of to build THEIR OWN custom interest feeds. Wondering what native clients ALREADY or will SOON implement NIP-51 lists for user generated custom feeds? @npub1n0st...k6h0 has custom feeds, but only relay based so far. Are NIP-51 npub lists just around the corner @npub1n0st...lahe ? @primal has explore tab with premade options. Would be nice to see user generated npub lists here. We’ve talked a bit about this @miljan ? @npub18m76...q955 has purple… I think “custom feeds” would be a highly desired premium feature. We can make this easy for you @jb55 ? @Amethyst … I’m not sure the state of custom feeds on this android client. @Vitor Pamplona ? @npub13myx...v3qk has its own custom feeds mechanism … AND already has NIP-51 npub lists integration. Cause @npub1jlrs...ynqn rocks!! View quoted note →

Is there a way to get back to that initial new user interests page? I just picked a couple to move on while joining yesterday and now can see how to add more topics to my feed. Would definitely like to add 'funny' and 'adventure' if they're available topics.
Sorry. I think this is the wrong inquiry. Sovereign Nostr users have demonstrated that they value “personalized” more than “client curated” follow recommendations. A better inquiry (imho) : “Please suggest high signal (and open source) WoT algos for recommending new follows based on a users current activity and followed friends.” Top two or three algos (we are building nip51 list generators) can be added as another row of buttons to your “explore” tab under “from your web of trust” If your concern is “the new user” who “has no friends on Nostr yet”, then even this can be handled without resorting to “client curated” recommendation lists. The “trending users” and “recommended follows” static lists on Primal are the source of endless humor on Nostr. Srsly. We are scrappy, but we can help. @david
I think I would probably opt for following hashtags as a preference maybe. Ideally, feeds/hashtags > accounts. Just out of curiosity have you used Bluesky (yes I know it's mostly poop) but their feeds are very slick and useful. Eg of hashtags # Asknostr, bookstr, meshtastic, (maybe quite niche, but nostr seems to attract a lot of enthusiasts), movies 🤔🤔 hmm it is actually quite tricky really, (probably not a good sign that it is as tricky as this lol) Off the top of my head, seeing as you asked specifically about accounts... I would add accounts: @Laeserin 🇻🇦 @Rudy Havenstein (if they stay and post, but looking hopeful) @MichaelJ @Coastal Angler (another new account that hopefully stays, big on fishing😚🎣) I'd also probably trim a lot of what you have (not going to name lol). And yeah, I think I would reiterate to click follow rather than have them autofollow as default and press unfollow. I think on sign up you want to get to the end as smoothly as possible and end up saying yes to everything and then getting annoyed about why a client would recommend accounts of little value.
