Reminder: the US has never been Constitutionally legitimate. Look at how George Washington handled the "carriage tax" case. His administration and his supreme court framed it as an argument about whether to follow "the exact words of the constitution or the intent / spirit of it." They argued it's fine to ignore the exact words and just follow "the spirit of the constitution" which is complete nonsense because the constitution has exact words for what to do when it doesn't live up to its intent, it's called a constitutional amendment. Constitutional legitimacy would mean following the exact words of the constitution and responding to issues by amending it, not selectively ignoring it and turning "amendments" into a token gesture. Was nothing new when they ignored the Constitution again later to enslave everyone with income taxes after the civil war. Was nothing new when Obama ignored the Constitution to drone strike a kid born in the US. Was nothing new when Trump ignored the Constitution to implement gestapo and concentration camps on US soil.
