My dad visited us earlier this spring to work on a few home improvement projects together. We didn’t get much work done, mostly just sat around talking and drinking beer. One of the many things we spoke about was of course Bitcoin—I showed him my lightning node, explained why I will never work for dollars again and why our family saves exclusively in Bitcoin. While he struggled to understand exactly how it works he was interested enough to learn more. I sent him home with a copy of The Bitcoin Standard. Last week, he came to visit us here in CR and having now read most of the book he had a better understanding of why Bitcoin matters and generally how it works. We visited the local markets in @Bitcoin Jungle, bought fruit with sats and showed him how to use @npub155m2...dcvg to pay for breakfast at a local café. Second to last day he asked if I would help him how to buy a ‘tiny amount’ to get started. I proudly set him up with a modest monthly DCA at @River. He’s not ready for self-custody and still has a lot to learn, but at 75 years old he’s officially a #Bitcoin holder. 🥳

One step at a time but we’ll get there! I’ll check back with him in a few months and keep the education going. And I told him I’d let him who when to hit the smash buy if Bitcoin takes a proper dip. 😅
