the basic idea is the second you give consideration to what your audience expects from you - you have lost your identity and are now nothing more than a clown for their entertainment it may be the smallest thing, but you will make one tiny concession after another until eventually 10 years later after thousands of such tiny concessions are nothing like who you would have been if you stayed true to yourself. i have made that mistake before. most of us have. the difference is i stopped doing it. audience capture = spiritual slavery. @Prince Aleph

example: the best poster on my site was a Christian Family Man - he commented on every post, watched every movie i reviewed and so on. because of this i felt the pressure not to attack religion or family. i was being captured by the audience. when i realized it i proceeded to ban religion and changed his avatar to the crucifix forcing him to leave the site. i then started trashing religion and family as i always wanted to do. could i have grown my site by pandering to people who were posting on it ? maybe. but it wouldn't have been MY site anymore - it would be THEIR site. get it ? @Prince Aleph
