Adding relays and their stability definitely needs to improve. I havnt got a clue how difficult a fix it is, but when your relays disappear for whatever reason (probably my fault tbh, but again no clue) then you have to remeber them, look them up/type them in, it's a bit of a pain in the arse.
I love tinkering, playing with settings, going under the hood and I love that nostr builds and inovates so quickly, but the average newb at some point will get sick and walk away.
Rather than this post being a negative winge, can I ask what are the major relay UX bottlenecks? And can I be a padantic guinea pig if any solutions are out their.

maybe relays could be stored in browser storage, and if there is a mismatch alert the user
I think I'm already out of my depth, but do you mean in the client/app?
But even then, alerting the user is a chew on for anyone as incompetent as my dad.
I'm guessing the nature of true decentralization brings with it some instability. Which will eventually be resolved.
yeah in the client
i have not had issues with my relays dissapearing (Amethyst, Nosmero) so i'm guessing that's just a bug
Maybe. I use yakihonne and its very stable, but could possibly be a bug. I added fountain.fm and it deleted all other relays.
That aside, any average Joe wouldn't have a clue with adding relays, let alone solving issues.
Hey there jaques which relays disappeared ?
In my case I am having issues with a cloudflare tunnel on a podman container relay install. I am probably going to give strfry a try and see how it goes
Since this was my first try at a major app install, and tossing so many fringe tech issues at it, I really can't blame nostr, but it would be real nice if there was a one click and some well documented configurations install with a couple different configurations that were curated and supported from a beginners perspective.
Attempt two for getting a working relay tomorrow, we will see how it goes.
Still loving noster and the community so far ,, 🎉🥰
If it helps, I added fountain.fm direct from their app, then I noticed only that relay was listed in yakihonne. Prior to adding it I had:
01-yakihonne, hist.nostr, damus, primal, snort, nos.lol and nostr.band
Yeah man, I don't really understand the first bit, over my head, haha, but yes on the configuration set up for beginners. atm we don't mind issues and it actually helps build conversations and community but unwilling newbs who just want to technology to work are the big scalp.
I have full confidence in nostr devs and like you say I love this place. Everyone is helpful, knowledgeable and building very quickly ✌️
