I think part of it is that they smoke crusty dusty old weed. THC degrades, the fresher the better (after appropriate curing of course). One of the annoying problems with it becoming widely legalized is these dispensaries don't roll their product so a lot of stuff is old and nasty but newbs don't know any better and then complain.
