My journey into #knots is a failure. I'd love some guidance if possible.. I am a novice Linux debian user, and on comcast. I had knots running once on my previous machine for some time, but then my pc crashed and I had to reinstall the distro. Redownloaded knots and it would download the bkockchain, finish and then once restarted would prompt it to download again. Fast forward to now. Fresh machine, 32gb ram 1tb hd, it has downloaded the blockchain oh I don't know, 6 times this week. The same thing keeps happening where once it's done, I restart the node and it just prompts to redownload the blockchain. I feel like I'm stuck in a loop and don't know why it's happening. Any Linux debian users with expertise in finding out why this is happening please help. Will zap a few sats for assistance. I just refuse to run core and I want to rule out core community attacks first as it's more likely user error on my part. If anyone can help, please let me know. Also it EVER shuts down when I click to exit the node. The shutdown window comes up but it will sit for 24hrs or more, it just never shuts down and I have to kill the program to get it to close.

Weird issues - I’m not familiar with that sort of problem. I hope someone can help you. Sounds like maybe you might have ephemeral storage that disappears at reboot - causing the repeated download?

Not that I'm aware of, it's persistent, no other files affected on the pc. It's more like knots will download the chain, and then it won't shut the node down just stalls when "do not reboot until this window closes" comes up. It never closes. Just sits for 24 hrs or more. So I'm forced to kill the program or force a reboot on the system and while the folder with the blocks are all there, I can see them, and the 600+GB of space taken up in the partition, knots still prompts another download of the chain. I'll delete the download destination files for it and all I can do is redownload the chain again after that. It makes no sense.
