why i hate monero is the smarmy attitude and hostility of monero brigaders and because they think that lightning isn't anonymous. both are wrong. monero is a very small, narrow protocol with very specific and narrow use case. i don't think it's necessary. especially the lack of visibility of the utxo graph. does the graph really have any information in it other than timing if you can't see the amounts? and outside that, the propagation origin on the network. those two things are all you have to attend to and it's auditable if the payment amounts are hidden properly, like bulletproofs/mimblewimble. so, yeah. i hate monero because it will never have satisfactory auditability and because a lot of moneros are rabid haters on bitcoin while they don't really understand the security tradeoffs and why bitcoin uses traceable utxo graphs. i agree the amounts should be hideable. that's why my fork has bullet proofs CTs that use mimblewimble kernels to guarantee the in amount matches the total of the out amounts.
