Good points. And monero is interesting, but I think it offers less privacy than coinjoined btc

It can't offer less privacy than coinjoins. Coinjoins still show amounts and addresses on the blockchain. Those aren't visible on Moneros blockchain.
On top of that huge anonymity vulnerabilities were recently discovered on Wabisabi and Whirlpool protocols.

monero hides sender, receiver and amount.
and coinjoins...
are complicated.
with Whirlpool it was equal amounts, 5 inputs to 5 outputs.
but however you slice it, look at the volume of CJ Bitcoin,
even if privacy guarantees were comparable (and they aren't),
there isn't the same amount of usage to provide similar protections.
