Nostr is a bunch of unpaid or underpaid weirdos coding independently in bedrooms around the world and they mostly don’t listen to each other or ever agree on how anything should be implemented.

I think the standard Nostr spec/nips are insufficient for a fully functional platform on their own, however I do like the simplicity and think they define a great "standard" for user signed content, and that is something all the devs are building on top of. Just my 2 sats.

You can just take a nip or two and write up something working in an afternoon, without anyone's permission. That to me is like magic and world-changing, like the early internet was.
