I thought the same thing initially. They have different use cases since bitchAT has a public group chat and Briar needs to scan QR codes for each user you want to chat with.

I've been hearing more about Briar since Bitchat came out, which is a welcome boom as Briar always looked cool but I never met anyone using it. Bitchat's user discovery method is something Briar would do well to consider. Briar does have some cool features Bitchat doesn't, so hopefully they can do some feature sharing.
