#asknostr I've been thinking about how the hell did the US become the only country in the world to tax their citizens regardless of where they live (not counting Eritrea's 2% tax here). We always talk about how strong the Constitution is, how this country was built on personal liberty and freedom from government intrusion, yet somehow we have the most draconian tax code in the "Land of the Free".

The exit tax and the fact they tax you even if you leave until you give up your citizenship is in fact fucking mental. One of the strangest things about the guiding light for freedom around the world.
