Games, anime, manga, comics, tv shows, and so on (online videos, blogs, social media, etc) have been more beneficial to me than any school or university.
Through them, I've consumed and digested more world knowledge, science, culture, etiquette, social, economics, philosophy, and helped me build and solidify my values and principles, as well as build up my character and gained strong and deep connections with others. It also gave me inspirations, drives, ambitions, and improve myself and those around me.
What many people don't seem to realize is that may seem useless is not, it all depends on how the person is using it, consuming it, digesting it, and see if they got updated because of it. I can "read a book" that seems very use (and it might actually be very useful) but i can just be reading it and not digesting it, and on the other hand i could play Tetris and either not learn anything and just kill time or learn various benefits from hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition, increase my rate of reaction, increase my rate of thought process, plan for the future instead of the immediate, strategize for maximum effect/results, and so on.
Even having a small bouncing ball in real life can make you learn so much and evolve and achieve greater things. Even through a piece of rock you find on the ground can. It's all about how the individual interacts with and consumes with a anything that they would get value from it.
