“France moves to ban #Bitcoin mixing services Transactions using mixers will now be presumed illicit unless proven otherwise.” If you need to clear bitcoins from a coinjoin simply open a Lightning channel and use them or perform swaps with boltz or perform a pegin in liquid. image

Guilty until proven innocent. Sounds like a reasonable policy for free country. BTW, anyone remember who invented guillotines?

Often struggle with this- If I buy from an exchange, switch from Lightning to Base Layer on Boltz, I'm still sort of tied to that initial purchase, am I not?
Bien Let france stand as an example of stupid policy If a politician wants to do something similar we can reply "so, you want to be like france?"
Liquid will hide amounts, not addresses, so a blatantly obvious connection will remain. Lightning.. yeah, good luck not screwing it up. The utxo that opens a channel is public knowledge and so are channel balances. This is all downstream effects of lack of privacy on the L1. All satoshis have a history, this history can and will be used to discriminate between them - that's what this law does. Entirely predictable, unfortunately.

Yes, the best solution is to install a personal node and open channels. When you need to spend, just use lightning. There are even p2p exchanges like Robosats which allows you to exchange lightning sats for fiat if you need it.
How do you feel using Wasabi considering the address reuse issue that SW pointed out and got ignored on? It's simply past address reuse, not zero link and has known to have its work de-mixed/peeled back. It's all out there.
This shows a little bit the ignorance of the state, it has always surprised me that they are chasing all this and they are not chasing Lighting, because the easiest way to introduce stolen bitcoins, or bitcoins coming from a coinjoin or marked, is to use lightning, the exchange will never know where they come from. Lightning used well is a perfect washing machine, and increases almost to perfection the fungibility of bitcoin. And the best thing is that there is nothing you can do to stop it.
The issue is that if you send money to an exchange through Lightning, the exchange cannot know where the money comes from, it is totally fungible money.
Thanks for pointing out that issue, in Wasabi Wallet 2.0 you get warning signals in the spending menu when you try to spend coins with anonscore 1 (together with higher anonscore). This is a user error that can't be avoided by the protocol (other than implementing whale rounds). The same can be done for my coinjoin.nl coordinator rounds, as there are few participants there are lower privacy guarantees. That's why I try to gradually increase the minimum number of inputs required as my userbase grows.
Hurry, someone tell the black market, we got some deep research here that everyone else at high stakes missed! We need to be QUICK and tell Dread and DNM users to use LN!!!
So where are people buying monero, if P2P bitcoin orderbooks are already so dry XMR can't be too liquid either? I did a check and majority of XMR volume comes form CEX, primary KuCoin And if it were banned from all CEXs where's the demand and liquidity going to come from?

I'm not referring to its trackability. I'm referring to its taintability.

What's next? They're going to ban payjoin and silent payments? We can do this all day

It's more like 2 guys taking a dump in a public bathroom. One is with the door opened, and the other, with the closed door, saying "maybe you need Monero"
just like people who tell you to use a VPN or Tor right? also, in the end STN copped to someone showing him a monero tx. so just stop. you can call LN a "privacy layer" when bolt12 txs are the default. not before.

From where it belongs, in P2P DEX's. I don't remember the last time i bought something in a CEX.. Only dumb people use CEX's

But are you an idiot or just pretending? What was Bitcoin made for? Wasn't it to be a fringe network and not need third parties to transact? Wasn't it to have a circular economy that empowers users and not the system? It's because there are idiots who think that Bitcoin has become a tool of the system.

P2P via Bisq (80% of trading volume is XMR) or Haveno/RetoSwap a Monero based P2P market. KuCoin the last remaining CEX, that has not fully delisted so far. Atomic swaps for BTC Or one of hundred instant exchanges like Changenow
Bitcoin is filled to the brim with infuencoooors pushing custodial, non-private, and KYC wallets for Lightning You literally suggest Strike, Wallet of Satoshi, and Blink on your website for vulnerable beginners
"Beginner custodial ln wallets" "For small amounts this is totally OK though." You're not fooling anyone here bro except vulnerable noobs
