We spend less than 12 hours every YEAR on being self sustained with potatoes. I totally understand why people dont homestead, but I cant understand why anyone with a house would buy them in the store. You can literally drop one by accident and get 10 back (happened to me last year) image

Potatoes don't like the heat & humidity. I went pretty hard on cassava/yuka this summer. The cool thing about cassava (apart from loving heat/humidity) is that you don't grow it from a tuber. You plant a stem cutting and the plant & tubers emerge from that. They make great fries & mash too.
