Is there really no way to post a video here that is bigger than 100mb?

Oh yeah, forgot about it. > blossom server to boot What do these words mean?
It might be hard for viewers to load at that size anyway because there are no video quality settings on nostr. You might be able to compress your 12 minutes at 1080p to below 100mb if the contents of the video don't move too much, but it would take a lot of CPU time. Compressing it with a smaller resize would be faster and more reliable. If you want, I can try to compress it or resize it for you

Fair point. But if i compress it to be bellow that limit it will look like it was filmed with a rock, and I put a lot of effort making sure my videos look good.
If it's like, mostly a still background, AV1 might be able to keep it crisp at 1080 in that size. But if it has more going on then yeah it would probably be too heavy 720p should be guaranteed to look crisp without too much CPU time, but maybe load faster with more CPU time 480p should look as crisp as 480p can and load easily without much CPU time I think nostr.build might be able to do video compression too, they were at least talking about rolling it out

It will introduce a ton of artefacts. Cinematography is kinda my thing, so no nueno :P Btw I am very familiar with how compression and most codecs work, I just have a level of quality I will just not go below.
Just gonna be hard to stream then. I wish more people would use nostr's BitTorrent spec, not sure if this would be a good use for it, but you could upload to archive.org and then post it on nostr both as a link and as a torrent magnet to the archive's torrent so that they seed it for you

I don't want to spend time jumping through 100 hoops just to post something, I prefer to spend that time in the quality of the content.

Even with nostr design, there obviously are ways to make this work with a great UX, I just don't think there is an incentive for people to work on it. Though kinda strange considering that most of the things people consume on social medias is video.

It's not lke the corporations walk to your door and shoot you up with heorin and you are addicted. At the end of the day you are very free to stop, in fact I think taking personal responsability for one's social media addiction, it the only way to avoid it.
