What problem did we give more power to the govt to solve, that it actually solved? Seriously like which one just got a bill passed and boom, problem gone and nobody even talks about it or thinks about it any more?

Can’t think of any. They β€˜solve’ problems by creating new departments that never die and govt just keeps growing

We have evolved as a dominance hierarchical species, it is neurologically wired within each and every primate, with the continual growth of technological advancement some form of government one way or the other is… inevitable.
I don't really know of any but possibly some places in Africa, and yes they are a mess. There aren't any long lasting examples in history either. My position is that it wasn't really possible at a scale larger than villages but technology changes that and new things are possible today.
