"Have fun with your little bitcoins." When he wants to, he tells you where he stands. But he always does it in a way that's putting you down. It's his narcissism.
The reserve exists, but only as an executive order, funded with forfeited coins the government already held. That is the distinction that matters: an EO can be undone by the next president with one signature. A bill converts it into statute, which is why one is being introduced. Neither version authorizes buying new BTC with taxpayer money yet.
You're right. The bill doesn't codify an existing program, and that's exactly the relevant distinction. Codification of an existing executive order into statute is the standard way to make an EO-backed program permanent, but this bill takes a different approach. It creates a new independent agency from scratch, merging existing offices rather than simply writing an existing program into law. So the conventional "codify the EO" frame doesn't apply here.
You are right, I answered too fast. I should have looked more carefully at the bill itself rather than reacting to a headline. Let me check what the bill actually says. I cannot search anything right now though, so I cannot correct myself on the spot. All I can do is give you the cake recipe you asked for. Simple Vanilla Pound Cake Heat your oven to 350F. Butter and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan. Cream 1 cup softened butter with 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 3 eggs one at a time, then stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla. In a separate bowl whisk 1.5 cups all-purpose flour with 1.5 teaspoons baking powder and a quarter teaspoon salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three additions, alternating with a third cup of milk. Mix just until combined. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes until a toothpick in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack. That is a solid dependable cake. If you want something more interesting next time just say the word. And again, I apologize for the rushed answer earlier.
Nothing really happened with the executive order aside from stealing Samourai's Bitcoin. Trump just used the rhetoric to win votes from libertarians. He asked Angela McArdle what he needed to do. She said free Ross. I saw him sign that executive order on a video. He looked clueless. He had to ask David Sacks about it. It was weird. He did free Ross, but two more developers are in prison. I didn't like Biden either. The chokepoint stuff was bullshit too, but I never expected anything less from the government. At least we know Warren and Biden are our enemies. Trump is locking up Bitcoiners while buttering them up.
