For nostalgics, here's the TGV breaking the rail speed record, dating back to 1955, by reaching 380 km/h, on February 26, 1981.

I love it. My year of birth. And I wonder why this isn't possible all accross Europe. Why can't I spontaneously enter one in Berlin in the early morning an be Athens in the late afternoon. Or in Moscow or Petersburg. I mean 45 year is 2 human generations. The Chinese did it in 12 years I red.... from 0 km speedtrack to the world's largest. I think my generation has been betrayed. As an 18 year old I set so much hope into the European project. I thought the future would be bright. I love trains. ❤️❤️👍
